California Crosswalks Hacked: Mark Zuckerberg & Elon Musk Impersonations Cause Chaos
Crosswalk buttons in Redwood City, Menlo Park, and Palo Alto were tampered with to play hoax audio clips pretending to be Mark Zuckerberg and Elon Musk. "
One recording claiming to be Zuckerberg said, "Hi, this is Mark Zuckerberg, but real ones call me the Zuck. You know, it's normal to feel uncomfortable or even violated as we forcefully insert AI into every facet of your conscious experience. And I just want to assure you, you don't need to worry, because there's absolutely nothing you can do to stop it. Anyway, see ya.Another recording, purportedly of Elon Musk, offered Cybertrucks to pedestrians in exchange for friendship, saying, "You don't know the level of depravity I would stoop to just for a crumb of approval. I mean, let's be real, it's not like I had any moral convictions to begin with."

City representatives from Palo Alto and Redwood City confirmed that crosswalk buttons in their respective cities were affected by the hoax. Meghan Horrigan-Taylor, a Palo Alto city spokesperson, noted that 12 crosswalks in the city were found to be impacted, while a Redwood City representative mentioned that four crosswalks were disabled after being tampered with.
Both cities emphasized that tampering with city infrastructure, including crosswalk signals, is unlawful and poses a safety risk. Investigations are underway to determine how the audio systems were hacked and who was behind the prank. Furthermore, it was stated that the impact of the hoax was isolated, and measures were taken to disable the voice-over systems in the affected crosswalks.Posted in Crime & Law Entertainment Tech & Science Business & Politics by
